How To Get Cheap Business Cards

I’m going to share with you here how I get free and cheap business cards!

One of my main expenses when I first became self-employed was business cards and other business stationary. It costs hundreds on a regular basis and the problem is, if you change your phone number or move house, you end up wasting all the cards you still have in stock.

A few years ago I found a company on the internet called Vistaprint that offers free and also cheap business cards. I wondered what the catch was, as the cards are full colour, on good quality card, with great designs. And it's easy to use.

The way vistaprint works seems to be this – the free offer gets people onto their site. Once on the site they may get tempted to go for a style of business card that costs a little. Then, they may get tempted to buy extra items, or to order a large quantity of cards, so what the company lose on the free business cards, they make up elsewhere. However even if you don’t go for the free option you can still get very cheap business cards, far better than I have found anywhere else.

Generally I just go for the free cards, you get 250 or you did last time I ordered. Sometimes I want to upgrade to a gloss finish, or I want to add my own logo so I pay a bit extra for that – but it’s not much! You obviously pay for delivery and here’s a tip – go for the slowest option which is the cheapest – in my experience it doesn’t take as long as they say.

So, I usually get 250 new business cards for under £5!

You couldn’t make them yourself for that. I know lots of people print off cards from their computer then spend hours cutting them all out. What a waste of time! And the cost of full color through your printer doesn’t make this a good way to get cheap business cards – and you don’t want them to LOOK cheap! To give your business credibility you want them to look professional and well-designed. I do anyway!

The other benefit of getting such cheap business cards from this company is that you can try out a different design each time you order and see which gets best results. That’s what I do.

Here’s a tip about using their design templates, which are SOOO simple to use.

They give you a specific number of lines to use and they label them ‘name’ ‘address’ ‘fax’ ‘website’ etc You don’t have to fill in these details. You can for instance put your sales message on each line, with, say, just your name and phone number on the top 2 lines. Whatever you want to say really. You can also leave a line or 2 blank so the card doesn’t look too crowded.

A final word about this, you will get offers by email from Vistaprint on a regular basis – it’s worth accepting their emails as you usually get the free offers this way. Also, when you order from them they offer you lots of extras when you go to the checkout – it’s entirely up to you if you want these, I don’t usually bother and just keep clicking on the ‘no thanks’ button. You can’t blame them for trying I guess!

I've never (so far!) had any errors with my orders, no delays. I'm really pleased with the service. Hope you get some great cheap business cards for your business!
