Here are some great (well, I think so!) free tips for selling on ebay. Many people are looking for an ebay selling secret. Here are 3 with a link at the bottom to many more! Hope you find them useful!

1. Choose the right/best category for the product you are selling.

The best way to do this is to log onto ebay and click on ‘Buy’. Then type into the search box the type of item you want to sell.

It will probably come up in several categories. How do you decide which is best?

Simply go down the left side of the page and check the ‘completed listings’ box. Then see which category produced the most bids, sales and highest final price for your type of item! Sneaky huh!

You may want to list in several categories if they both have good results, and test yourself which works best for you.

2. The second of my tips for selling on ebay is: Get the best KEYWORDS in your Title and Description.

Why? Because your item won’t even get found (let alone sold!) if you don’t do this vital step!

Here’s an example to explain what I mean: You are selling a pearl Bridal Necklace. You don’t understand about keywords so you write the Title like this:

‘Gorgeous bridal choker WOW!!!’

What’s wrong with that? Well, nothing obvious. However if you go to Wordtracker and use their free trial keyword tool you will see that the keywords ‘bridal choker’ are a total disaster because they only get one search a day…

However, after trying all kinds of variations you can discover that ‘Pearl necklace’ has 955 searches a day! So, if you use Pearl Necklace along with the word New in your title you know that lots of people will find your item, so the chances of selling it are good. You can then mention the wedding or bridal bit, but remember the important part is ‘Pearl necklace’.

Interestingly the words ‘wedding necklace’ only get 6 searches a day, ‘necklace for brides’ gets no searches and ‘pearl choker’ only gets 8 searches.

I would say that doing your keyword research is the most important part of selling successfully on ebay, that’s just my opinion. It’s a much overlooked area.

3. Take great photos of your item, and don’t limit it to just one.

After all the better your customers can see your item, the more likely they may buy. If they can’t see it clearlyIt also proves you have nothing to hide…So, do close ups, long-shots and from all angles. Does the item have a label or brand? Take a photo! Make sure it’s well lit with a plain background so the item can be seen easily.
