How To Achieve Work From Home Business Success
Work from home business success. I'm going to look here at how you can increase your chances of success with your home business and which type of home work is best and why. Before I do that here’s a really discouraging but important well-known fact about home businesses: Apparently over 90% of all home businesses fail within their first few years. If you are looking for work from home business success, how do you avoid joining the masses who fail? I have built a number of successful home-based businesses over the last 15 years. I will tell you more about those shortly.
From my own experience, I believe there are 2 key points to look at to help you achieve work from home business success:
Number1. The business itself. Number 2. You.
Most people only focus on number one, the business itself. There are many, many great businesses you can run from home, especially these days with the internet. I want to look first at YOU.
You see many people would like to work from home. Some try. Only a few succeed. Why? Because you can have the greatest home business in the world, but if you aren’t self-motivated it may never get off the ground. If you aren’t committed to building your business week in, week out, year in, year out, it may never reach the point of success.
If you aren’t passionate about the work, you may simply give up before you enjoy success. If you aren’t organized and goal oriented the business may fail. If you aren’t willing to learn new skills, you may not succeed. However, if you are willing to do all of the above, and you find a good business, the sky’s the limit.
So what makes a good home business and which will make it most likely for you to have work from home business success?
Every business that I have done (and still do) have one vital thing in common. They all have a proven track record of success. In other words there were already plenty of people already doing those businesses successfully WHO I COULD LEGITIMATELY COPY.
Let me give you 2 examples.
The first home business I went into was network marketing. The fifth (or so) was making money online with my own websites. With the network marketing company, (Forever Living) they had been around for about 16 years when I joined and were totally cash-rich and debt-free. (They still are). They were successfully trading in about 50 countries back then (now it’s over 125) so I new it must be at least possible for me to be successful with them as millions of others already were. I had no previous relevant experience at all (I was a graphic designer) but I could see that they had a simple, duplicatible, step-by-step system that I could follow. So, I wasn’t taking any risks with this business. The products were proven, the marketing plan worked, others were doing it. The company itself was very ethical and stable, not about to disappear with my money. All these points took away so many of the risks that you typically have when you start your own home business. Plus, I didn’t need to take out a loan to get started, a big plus.
With the website route, I didn’t have much success at first. That’s because I simply bought a website building software program and taught myself how to use it. I then learned gradually and bit-by-bit about Search Engine Optimisation. (This is the techniques you need to use to build a site that ranks well in the search engines, crucial for success). It was a long, slow, difficult (but actually enjoyable on the whole) process and after a few years I still wasn’t very successful.
I then found a company that had a proven track record of great success in this field.
I started building sites their way and have never looked back. Again, I was simply copying an already existing highly successful business model. Someone else had done all the hard work and risk taking already. I just took advantage of that, in the nicest possible way!
My businesses give me freedom.
A final very important point I want to add here is this: Many home businesses can take over your life. They own you. The businesses I do took time and effort initially but I knew, from researching them, that in a relatively short time they would give me a passive income. So, be clear in your own mind about what you want from your business. And start a business that will give you what you want. Some people love hard work. They want to work 5-7 days a week all year. I personally don't! Some of the best ways to make money that don't take up all your time are internet-based and I have devoted a large part of this site to that.
So, my best advice if you are looking for work from home business success is, don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Copy those who are already making money successfully and you cut your risk of failure significantly. If you also develop all the personal skills required that I mentioned earlier and you work hard until you succeed, you can become one of the 10% who enjoy work from home business success.
As I look out across Poole Harbour from my new apartment while I write this in the sunshine, am I glad I quit the rat race and stuck at my home-businesses through all the ups and downs? Oh yes. The freedom and the fulfilment are priceless. You can find out more about all the many ways you can work from home here:
