Work From Home Tips
All these tips are things I do myself. To make money from home successfully you can develop certain skills that will help you greatly. You may already have some of these, or all of them. If so you are likely to be successful much more quickly than someone who doesn’t have these skills.
Customer Service. Whether your customers or clients are on the internet or local to you, aim to give them great service. If you give great service you will reap the rewards. Over-deliver on what they want. Don’t have a ‘take’ mentality. People will see through you and won’t want to deal with you.
When you are working from home, there’s no-one telling you what to do (Yay!) which is great if you are self-motivated, but if you aren’t you may never get started. It’s so easy to get distracted and to spend all your time getting other things out of the way before you get on with your business! I have found it helps to create a daily list of the most important things to do that will move my business forward. I then work through the list and don’t do anything else until the list is all done. Then, I’ll go surfing as my reward! Think up what you would love to do once your work is done. It’s incredibly motivating. I know that I’m not going to get side tracked when the surf is waiting for me – I want to get out there as soon as possible. Lists keep you focussed. They also keep your head clear, because once you have written it down it’s no longer going around your brain.
Another of my work from home tips is to write down your goals for your business. What do you want to achieve? When do you want to achieve it by? Write down all the steps you need to take to then reach that goal in the timescale you have set yourself. If your goal is a financial one, make sure you also add in what you will do with that income once you have achieved it. Money alone doesn’t tend to be as motivating as what you will actually DO with the money.
Picture yourself having achieved your goal. Do this daily. How does it feel? What is your life like now? How does your day look? Picture it in as much detail as possible. Make it feel real. The better you get at this, the easier you will find it to reach your dreams and goals. If you think some of these work from home tips are too 'whacky' remember that many highly successful people from all areas of life use these methods to help them. Why not you? You have nothing to lose by trying them.
If you are used to being broke, in debt or if you have low self-esteem, these patterns will hold you back. So change them! Look at all the famous, successful people who started out with nothing, yet went on to achieve extraordinary things. They did it. So can you. I believe that anyone can achieve anything they want as long as they are willing to do something about it. The bigger your goal the better because it will excite and inspire you - and that’s when positive things happen. What do you want, in all areas of your life? Write it down. Add pictures. Grab some magazines, car brochures, travel brochures, do internet searches. Find images of everything you want. Put it all up on your wall, somewhere you will see it regularly. It may sound weird, but who cares, it works. Don’t believe me? Try it for 6-12 months and then decide if I’m right. Here are some rather more practical work from home tips;
On a more practical level, clear the space where you are going to base your home business. It may be the corner of your dining room, bedroom or you may have a spare room you can use.
A large, page-a-day diary. I’m amazed at the number of self-employed people who forget to meet their clients, or call their prospects because they wrote the details down on a bit of paper which got buried under more bits of paper.
with a professional greeting that you record yourself. An anonymous message can be a real put-off. You will never know how many clients you have lost! Plus it’s unprofessional. I know business people who spend money on advertising yet they don’t have an ansaphone! You may as well set light to your wallet. If your business is internet based, make sure you have a reliable laptop or computer with a fast broadband connection. It seems obvious, yet many people will spend a good portion of their day on slow dial up connections and computer crashes.
Most of us have some hang-ups and fears. It may be public speaking, or making phone calls to strangers, or using a computer! It may be a lack of confidence or a poor memory. Or laziness. Whatever it is for you, identify it and do your homework about ways to change it. There are courses, ebooks and books about every subject you can think of. You just need to find the right one for you. What if your fear is the only thing standing between you and your goals? Overcoming your fears is one of the most important work from home tips. Giving in to your fears as opposed to conquering them can make the difference between failure and success.
